FAQ Life Coaching

How long are sessions?

Sessions are one-on-one and usually 1 hour long.

How many visits are required?

Some people only need 1 or 2 sessions to get them moving in the right direction. They know "something" is just blocking them from getting there. There is no on-going support required. Others may be experiencing a significant change in their life, experiencing/experienced a personal tragedy or embarking on a new venture. A concentrated 5 sessions will help you make significant progress over a period of one month. Follow up sessions may be required over 6 months to 1 year.

Can you coach over the telephone?

Yes I can. Upon review of the questionnaire submitted, my first contact with you will determine your most convenient mode of communication. Personal communication by either in person or telephone is the most effective.

I have noticed that some coaches have a degree in psychology or other PhD.
Why not you?

Coaching is not about having a degree in psychology or a PhD., or even about being the smartest person in the room. As a coach, it is not our job to diagnose, analyze or fix our clients. Coaching is about helping our clients find their own answers. As a coach, we listen carefully, explore the possibilities. No advance degree required. Do I believe a good coach should have expertise and passion. Yes I do. These are the key elements of a good coach.

Essential Oils FAQ

Why can't I just get the essential oils and blend it myself?

Essential oils are organic compounds. They are non-greasy and highly volatile and inflammable. They are air born, evaporating leaving no trace. There are only a few essential oils that can be used directly on the skin, a "carrier" is required. Some of the oils are anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and even anti-fungal. The "synergy" of oils blended, can change the power of healing and penetration into the bloodstream. Caution is always required.

How do you know which oil is best for me?

Essential oils are chosen first for their therapeutic effect. Next consideration is given to the aroma. Blending oils have 3 "notes". Top, middle and base. Certain oils blend better together than others. These oils enhance the effect of each other. This is what we call "synergy". Another important part of synergy is called "quenching". That's when potential unwanted side-effects of one component are canceled out by the introduction of other components.

How do you know which "mode" to use when using essential oils?

Each case is individual. When applying essential oil to the skin, the molecular structure of the oil is so minute, it penetrates the skin via sweat glands and hair follicles. It is also suggested they can permeate between skin cells, through lipids and enter the dermis this way. Once there, they are transported around the body by the circulatory sytem. Essential oils have the ability to go where they need to go. Another mode is by inhalation. The nose has direct access to the brain, through the olfactory system. The nose have tiny hairs which are the endings of small olfactory nerves which translate odour into nerve messages. These then travel to the limbic system, known as the centre of emotional behaviour.
