Explaining Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is using essential oils from plants for improving or maintaining health and beauty. Aromatherapy can be traced back about 5000 years. In both India and Egypt the use of plants was an important part of their culture. Aromatherapy directly affects the Olfactory System known as the sensory system of your body and the Limbic System which is your brain, the centre of emotional behaviour. When a specific essential oil is recommended for treating specific conditions, it is not a claim that it will remedy the problem. Rather, it is a remedy to help the problem feel better. Essential oils have the power to go where needed – quick power of healing. They can help re-balance your system, help to reinforce the immune system. They also help the skin to perform its role as a barrier.

Essential oils are distilled or expressed in many forms from plant materials. Once blended, the essential oil can be applied in modes of application ranging from direct inhalation, massage or oral to name a few.

How it helps you

Some of the main qualities of essential oils are used, as an example as a general antiseptic. Antiseptic for the respiratory tract, digestive and intestinal tract, urinary tract, good for circulation of blood and lymph, anti-rheumatic, tonic to the nervous system, good for endocrine system, problems with menstruation, cardiac stimulant, anti-fungal, good for skin conditions and insect bites.

What I do

We start the process with a thorough personal consultation to identify areas of need. A health check questionnaire reveals specific conditions and any use of maintenance or other prescription drugs. This helps to insure there isn’t a medicinal conflict of using a specific essential oil. Essential oils are personal to the individual and applied in the appropriate mode. Oils are then blended to treat conditions that are present and also to help relieve chronic conditions. Personal blends are also available to apply in your own privacy after bath or shower.

Massage

Affects of Massage

Massage can be an exhilarating and uplifting experience. As a whole, your body, mind and spirit is transformed to a state of balance and harmony. Massage uses touch through rubbing or kneading parts of the body to relax muscles, improve circulation, manage pain and overall whole body wellness.

Your problem areas checklist (how massage can help) - stress, pain, headaches, sluggish immune system, poor circulation, difficult breathing, skin disorders, rashes and burns.

Aromatherapy Massage

Personalized oil is applied by gentle kneading to promote circulation and relieve tired muscles. A personal consultation is required to determine specific areas of discomfort. A blend of essential oils are then gently kneaded and rubbed into muscles and joints to relieve pain and stress. This massage increases circulation and helps to drain the lymphatic system.
